Marblehead Carnival
Each May, the Marblehead High School Junior Class puts on the Marblehead Carnival at Devereux Beach. The carnival serves as the major fundraiser for the junior class and also serves as the unofficial start of Spring. Given the timing of the carnival in early May, one can usually expect at least a bit of rain and cool weather but that does little to stifle the crowds of families during the daylight hours and teenagers when the sun goes down.
The Marblehead Carnival takes place the first weekend in May and opens on Thursday night (6pm to 10pm) and continues on Friday night (6pm to 10pm), all day Saturday (1pm to 10pm and Sunday (1pm to 6pm) – all times are subject to closing/delayed opening due to rain. Tickets can be purchased by credit card or Apple Pay with rides requiring 4-6 credits and games 4-10 credits each. Parking is available at 99 Ocean Avenue or across the street on Riverhead Beach.
Below are my favorite images of the annual Carnival at Devereux Beach captured from the early morning hours until near close.
